Order Sons of Italy in America
Connecticut Grand Lodge
The following charities have been "adopted"
by the National Order Sons of Italy in America as well as by the Connecticut
Sons of Italy Foundation. In addition to these charities the Son's of
Italy gives generously to scholarship funds, medical research, disaster
relief and other programs and causes.
Alzheimer's Association
- The Alzheimer's Association is the
largest national voluntary health organization committed to finding a
cure for Alzheimer's disease and helping those affected directly and
indirectly by the disease.
- To date, the Connecticut Sons of Italy
Foundation has contributed more the a half million dollars to the
Alzheimer's Association.
Cooley's Anemia Foundation
- The Cooley's Anemia Foundation serves
people affected by the fatal genetic blood disease Thalassemia, also
know as Cooley's Anemia. The disease is often found in persons of
Mediterranean descent, and the foundation's mission is to advance
treatment and enhance the quality of life of patients.
- The Connecticut Sons of Italy
Foundation has contributed $2 million to the Cooley's Anemia Foundation
to date.
Coaches for Cancer
- Coaches for Cancer was founded by
University of Connecticut Basketball Coaches Jim Calhoun and Geno
Auriemma.
- All monies donated go directly to
cancer research.
